Sochi International Airport: The southern gateway

Sochi International Airport is one of the key air hubs of southern Russia:

- Modernized for the XXII Winter Olympic Games in 2014;

- Distance from Sochi city center: approx. 30 km;
- Distance from Adler city center: approx. 4 km.

The airport is named after Vitaly Sevastyanov, an honorary citizen of Sochi, twice Hero of the Soviet Union and cosmonaut. The name was chosen through a nationwide vote as part of the “Great Names of Russia” project.

Sochi Airport is the greenest airport in Russia, with more than 300,000 plants on its территории. Be sure to visit the inner courtyard “Garden with a Fountain” (follow signs near exits 13–16).

Interesting Fact

Due to natural obstacles such as mountains to the north and northeast of the airport, takeoffs and landings are performed only from the Black Sea side.
